Tape Job Tuesday

🦵🏼Patellar tendon tape job:

Supplies:
 🔵 Pre-wrap foam wrap 

Instructions: 
🔵 Place foam wrap flat below the knee joint.
🔵 Wrap around upper calf in a 2-3 inch section, 5 to 7 times
🔵 Add twisty straps if you want more compression.
🔵 Roll the pre-wrap down to make a band. 
🔵 Tug the band to stretch it out to adjust to less tension.

🦵🏼Basic rotary stability knee tape job :

Supplies:
🔵 Power flex/non adhesive tape
If you have the supplies Elastikon is an ever better option for this tape job.

Instructions: 
🔵 Instruct athlete to stand up onto their tippy toe with a bent knee or have athlete put their heel on a 3 to 4 inch object (this will help to ensure good circulation once the tape job is complete and athlete is ready for play). 

🔵 Start on the thigh from the lateral (outside) side of leg wrap the tape around the front of the thigh to create an anchor strip.

🔵 continue the tape in a figure 8 pattern pulling from the anchor toward the lateral leg, wrap behind the upper calf, avoid tape behind the back of the joint. 

🔵continue the figure 8 wrapping around the front of the shin back to the outside of the knee completing the first part of the X on the joint line.

🔵 creating the second part of the X to support the lateral joint. Continue with the figure 8 to complete an X on the medial joint.

These tape jobs can be used in combination, or individually. The patellar tape job in this scenario was used to compress and relax the upper calf as the athlete was feeling a tug there, along with needing some rotary stability.
