Wild cats + bees living in harmony! 🐆 🫶 🐝 

Droughts in Calakmul, Mexico driven by climate change are forcing wild cats like Jaguars, Ocelots, Pumas, Jaguarundis and Margays closer to humans, sparking conflicts with landowners like beekeepers. 

To reduce competition for water, conservationists from ocelot_wg, with support from Re:wild, are harvesting rainwater and creating artificial water sources for wildlife. By offering alternative water sources away from hives, both the wild cats and beekeepers benefit. This work has ensured year-round water for wildlife and bees, and created monitoring stations managed by the beekeepers to help track wildlife activity.

Thanks to the Conhuas community, this project helps protect livelihoods, ecosystems, and coexistence—one water source at a time! 💧🐾
