travelmanitoba > MANITOBA EXPLORER App - Wordmark, Digital Badges and Support Graphics > I love when my projects align with my interests and I’ve been looking forward to sharing this collaboration with travelmanitoba. It’s a great initiative that gets people to discover new sites and enjoy our province more. Whether you’re new to the area or have lived here all your life, I’d recommend using the new Explorer Manitoba app to collect some badges and explore some cool spots in Manitoba.

Taking a more abstract and contemporary approach while designing this concept, it was still important to balance the aesthetic with classic elements. Using inspiration from flags, trail markers, and tags, it was intended to create a logo that people can still connect with, but at the same time felt progressive. It was also intentional to tie in the Manitoba Explorer logo, not only by using the brand colours, but by also using a tag or flag like graphic that is commonly used on Travel Manitoba materials for the logo to be placed on. Representing and incorporating our lakes, forests and big skies into the design was a priority. The sun can be interpreted as rising or setting, because as we know, adventure can happen anytime of the day. Although the illustration in the logo is flat, layering the elements on different planes give the illustration dimension. This concept is intended to appeal to anyone looking to explore.
