KNIGHTS 39, STARS 25: Senior shooting guard Miranda DiGiovanni powered an efficient, consistent offensive attack with a game-high 16 points—all in the first three quarters—as the Knights won all four quarters to secure a no-doubt home win over district opponent Ann Richards on Jan. 7.

The Knights cruised to the win with steady offensive output and stingy defense. The Knights scored 10 points in three of the quarters and nine in the second. The Stars’ offense meanwhile sputtered, never reaching double digits in a single quarter and only surpassing six points once. The Knights led by four after a quarter, by seven at the half and finished with a 14-point win.

Junior guard Mary Briceño scored 11 points, and freshman shooting guard Darryn Sorrells eight.

The Knights and Stars will square off again on Jan. 31 at Ann Richards.

Tonight, the Knights have their own revenge rematch against the Anderson Trojans, who beat the Knights on Dec. 31, and stand tied for first place in the district standings with Bastrop at 9-1. LASA is in third place at 7-3. The Knights earned an important 47-45 victory at Crockett on Wednesday which gave them a two-game lead over the Cougars for fourth place and the final playoff spot.

A victory over Anderson would help the Knights as they attempt to move up the district standings. The Knights have already split the season series with LASA but still have a game with Bastrop at home on Feb. 4 to close the regular season.
