A round of applause for Faythe Cooper ’24, who has earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Taiwan for the 2024-2025 academic year!

A biology major with an East Asian Studies minor, she will teach English in Taiwan and is looking forward to “exploring the different cultural festivals in Taiwan, like the hot spring festivals in Beitou” while honing her conversation skills and preparing for a future career in global health.

“My experiences as a Fulbright ETA will help me improve my Chinese proficiency, enabling me to connect more effectively with native Mandarin speakers as a future physician-scientist.”

Faythe shares more about how her time at Oberlin, including mentoring other students and assisting with STEM advising, contributed to her interest in the Fulbright.
