@RhiannonGiddens ‘00 has spent her entire career educating people about country music's roots in Black America. She recently told @NowThis News that the banjo "was an emblem of Black America for a long time before whites ever picked it up.” 

We're thrilled that you have taken notice, @Beyonce. A queen moves at her own pace, but ma'am, what took you so long?!

Giddens plays 🪕(banjo) and 🎻 (viola) on "TEXAS HOLD ‘EM," which is taking the country music charts by storm. Have y'all seen the TikToks too?

Looking back, you could even say Giddens manifested ✨ this collaboration:

“It takes something like Beyoncé going, ‘I’m going to get this black banjo player to be on my next record," she told an interviewer in 2021. "I could release ten records, and it wouldn’t make a drop of difference compared with what Beyoncé could do. But if I put out as much stuff as I can, maybe it will tweak somebody to do that thing that makes the big splash."
