Oberlin's South Asian Students Association celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with a banquet in the Carnegie Root Room earlier this month. The evening featured dancing, music, and traditional garments. One of the major religious festivals originating in India, Diwali marks the start of the Hindu new year and symbolizes victory of light over darkness.
