I am frequently asked whom I want to see win a tournament, and to be quite honest, 99% of the time I just want someone to win it fair-and-square… And someone who will help us sell tickets to the next year‘s event. I so rarely get emotionally invested. Until now. Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve been perfectly happy for Aryna.  But, Madi took my heart to a place where in 25 years in tennis, it has never been before. Her journey of self-awareness, self improvement, and constant display of love and kindness have left an indelible mark on my heart. Madi, more than how proud I am of your winning your first Grand Slam title, I’m even more proud of the little girl I used to know and the woman you have become. It has been such a thrill and privilege to be a wee-small part of your journey.  You are the director, writer, and star of your movie, and girl, you just swept the Oscars. ❤️🏆🎾
