Many people who binge drink may not even realize it. Whether it be at a party, event, or bar, consuming a high volume of drinks in a short period of time may qualify as binge drinking, regardless of frequency or control of use.

While binge drinking doesn't mean a person has alcohol use disorder, a person with alcohol use disorder may also binge drink.
