A TOUGH DRAW: The boys varsity soccer team had their first district match against Navarro. Although the Knights played well throughout, the match ultimately finished in scoreless draw. For varsity coach Nick Martin, this just means they will continue to work harder. 

“A frustrating day,” Martin said. “We dominated play and possession. We created chances but failed to convert. As I’ve told the team and everyone who asks: there are no easy games in our district. If you’re not on, you won’t win.”

Although they did not win, the draw means that both teams gained one point in the district standings. At the end of their season these points will be added up and will decide who wins the district championship. This tie helps Martin and the team keep a positive mindset for their future matches. 

“We got a point and that is good,” Martin said. “We will move forward and get ready for LASA.”

The varsity Knights and Raptors meet Wednesday at Nelson field at 7:30 p.m.
