WIN AGAINST RAPTORS: Senior George McCoy scored 23 points to lead the visiting Knights to a 19-point victory over rival LASA, 64-45. The win not only kept the Knights atop the District 24-5A standings, but it completed the Knights’ perfect run through the first half of the district season and gave the Raptors their first district loss of the season.

Junior Ethan Plummer chipped in 13 points, and senior George Brode also scored in double digits with 11. Other notable offensive performers included seniors stalwarts Luke Dunham with 7 points and Felix Kahlor with 6 points.

Since the rivalry showdown, the Knights have defeated Crockett and Anderson to reach 8-0 in district play but lost a tough district game to Cedar Creek (6-3) at home that ended the Knights’ district win streak at 28 games.

The Raptors and Eagles are on a collision course Friday night at Cedar Creek. If the Raptors can pass that road test and defeat fourth-place Anderson for the second time next Friday, then it is possible that LASA and McCallum can meet again this time at DCG on Feb. 11 in a district finale that pits two one-loss teams against each other for the district title.

For that to happen, the Knights have to win two district games on the road at Bastrop next Tuesday and at Navarro next Friday, both games at 8 p.m.
