Eighty years after the liberation of Auschwitz and the end of the Holocaust, survivors gathered at UN Headquarters in #NYC this week for the annual #HolocaustRemembrance ceremony. They shared their profound stories of loss, resilience and hope, honoured the victims and urged the world to never forget.

The Holocaust is a stark reminder of what happens when hatred, dehumanization and apathy prevail.

Honouring its memory not only preserves the stories of survivors —their lives before the Holocaust, their vibrant communities, traditions, hopes, and loved ones lost— but also helps ensure that such atrocities are never repeated.

“The courage of survivors in telling their stories has played an enormous role. We are deeply grateful to them all,” said #UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres.

“But the responsibility belongs to every one of us.
Remembrance is not only a moral act.
Remembrance is a call to action.”
