Today is National Freedom Day, which recognizes the signing of the Thirteenth Amendment, abolishing slavery in the United States. Today also marks the start of Black History Month. Each February, the U.S. observes Black History Month. 

Across MedStar Health, we embrace Black History Month as both a celebration and reminder that Black history is American history, Black culture is American culture, and Black stories are essential to the ongoing story of our country, organization, and local communities.
