🚨 Memphis & xAI Land Deal in the Works 🚨

The City of Memphis and Elon Musk’s xAI may be brokering a land deal for a Colossus Water Recycling Plant near the T.E. Maxson Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Memphis City Council is set to review the proposal this Tuesday.

🔹 What’s the Deal?
	•	xAI is offering $820,000 to purchase 13 acres south of the T.E. Maxson facility (2685 Plant Road).
	•	The land is part of a 158-acre city-owned parcel, appraised at $2.89 million.
	•	xAI will also put down a $82,000 deposit, with proceeds going to the Sewer Enterprise Fund.
	•	There’s a discrepancy in the City Council agenda, which lists the purchase price at $482,000.

🔹 What’s the Purpose?
xAI plans to build a $78 million wastewater recycling plant to use greywater for cooling its Memphis supercomputer data center. This Colossus Water Recycling Plant would be a joint project with:
	•	Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
	•	Nucor Steel

🔹 Why It Matters
	•	Memphis’ water infrastructure is becoming a key asset for tech giants like Nvidia, Dell, and Super Micro, who are eyeing partnerships with xAI in the city.
	•	The EPA is already looking into xAI’s facility and its use of temporary gas turbines.
