Shirley Muldowney: the “First Lady of Drag Racing”

Muldowney began street racing in the 50s, and it quickly captured her heart. She was the first woman licensed to drive a Top Fuel dragster by the National Hod Rod Association, a multi-time winner of the NHRA Winston World Points Championship, winner of 18 NHRA national events, runner up of nine, made it to 27 final rounds, was a Top Fuel qualifying leader 13 times—the list goes on 🏆💪

After a career spanning 18 years, Muldowney retired, now spending her time attending motorsport events, managing her non-profit charity, Shirley’s Kids, and continuing to inspire countless girls and women across motorsport 💜
