Happy girls & women in sports day! 📸🤍

This day has always meant a lot to me and getting to watch the stands full of young girls at the UC women’s basketball game today reminded me so much of me watching my team from the sidelines dreaming about being them one day. Growing up as the tom boy on the basketball court or black top at recess just begging for the boys to let me play with them has made me appreciate this day even more- not only from a professional side but from the side of a little girl who just wants to play football at recess (I just loved all things sports- huge thanks to my dad for that:)) Luckily for the little girl who wasn’t scared to wait on the sideline until it was “her turn” to play basketball with the boys at recess, she has an amazing group of family and friends behind her that never doubted her for a second. 

Coach cincycoachtrina said it best tonight in the post game press conference, “The sports and all of that are great, but it’s about who you become because of sports.”

Growing up being the girl waiting to get her chance to play with the boys made me resilient and relentless, and quite honestly a bit hard headed. But I am here today just enjoying every step of the way because I have found my dream job, and suprise surprise… it’s in sports. I mean.. I waited on the sidelines long enough, right? :) 

I am SO extremely grateful for the people who have supported me through my life and now throughout my career. Being supported by not only a great team, but a great team of women is HUGE in the field- and I am so beyond grateful I get to be apart of this generation. 

Here’s to women in sports everywhere, but more importantly, here’s to women in sports who have kicked ass day in and day out (& continue to do so) who have paved the way for me to do the same. 📸🤍
