“[That] night was a moment I’ll never forget — I had the honor of wearing a Nutcracker head made to match my skin tone. From Cincinnati to Houston and now in my 8th season with Boston Ballet, I’ve danced in many versions of this classic, always wondering why the heads didn’t reflect the dancers wearing them. We all know the reason… lol.

But change is here. This season, Boston Ballet took a meaningful step toward greater representation, and I’m proud to have been the dancer to wear it. Representation matters. Progress matters. And moments like this remind me why we keep pushing forward. ✊🏾✨” - Daniel R. Durrett
