JV KNIGHTS 44, BEARS 27: The JV-A boys basketball team delivered a decisive 17-point victory over host Bastrop, thanks to strong defensive execution and a relentless up-tempo offense.

“We pushed the pace well, and I think we were pretty sound defensively,” sophomore Miller Stephens said.

Following a Jan. 24 loss to Anderson, the Knights have responded with back-to-back wins of the Bastrop teams in the district to regain confidence as the season nears its conclusion. 

“We’re getting our confidence back,” Stephens said. “It feels like we’re building some momentum for the end of the season.” 

Sophomore Ferguson Castleberry made the most of an expanded role, providing key contributions on offense. 

“I just went out there and shot the shots that I practice every day, and I knocked them down,” Castleberry said. “It was good to get into the game more than I have in the past couple of games, and it was a fun game.”

Throughout the current win streak, the focus has been on consistency and team play. 

“We keep winning games, playing as a team, and playing good defense,” Stephens said.

The JV Knights defeated Navarro tonight to extend the win streak to three games. The team hopes to end its season with a fourth consecutive win when the Knights host LASA on Tuesday. The freshman game starts at 5:15 p.m.; the JV game at 6:30 p.m.; and the varsity game at 8 p.m.
