## Caption

The varsity boys soccer team traveled to Cedar Creek and beat the Eagles 4-0 on Friday. The win kept the Knights (2-0-3) undefeated and handed the Eagles (3-2) their second district loss. With the three points earned from the victory, the Knights are now tied with the Eagles atop the District 24-5A standings with nine points.

All four goals were scored by different Knights: senior Austin Gourrier, senior Manu Perez, sophomore Brandon Reynaga, and junior Sam Schuette.

Schuette said the Knights controlled the game from the kickoff.

“We had a lot of intensity from the start,” he said. “We did a really good job finishing, especially from set pieces.”

Schuette credits the defense for giving the team their offensive opportunities.

“The defense did really well,” he said. “They did a great job finding the midfielders which let the midfielders make chances for the offense. Those chances led to half our goals.”

While three of the four goals came in the second half, Schuette said the Knights need to improve their intensity after halftime.

“We have to work on keeping the energy throughout the game,” he said. “We can’t start the second half slow, and we need to keep working on building out the back.”

The Knights look to stay undefeated against Bastrop (2-0-1)—which beat Cedar Creek 3-0 on Jan. 28—on 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Nelson Field.
