TROJANS 61, KNIGHTS 38: The varsity girls hosted Anderson on Jan. 24 in the second of two district meetings between the two rivals. 

Things looked promising for the home team early, but the visiting Trojans dialed up a full court press that was effective in turning the tide of the game in their favor.

Sophomore Isabela Vaca was pleased with her team’s performance, if not the result. 

“I think we did really well at the Anderson game,” Vaca said. “There was a point where we were just tied and obviously they started pressing, and it got very exciting and the energy was up.” 

Vaca plays both post positions on the varsity team but said she feels most comfortable playing center.
 
“I like to play the five the most,” Vaca said. “They’re both kind of the same. I like to play the five because I’m better at understanding what I have to do as the five rather than the four.

With the regular season completed after Tuesday’s Senior Knight game against Bastrop, the Knights begin play in the 5A D1 state playoffs 7 p.m. Monday when they play Georgetown at Westwood High School.
