## Caption

Our Hope story began with us living 1,100 miles apart. We were friends who worked for the same company but in different states.
 
Brian had gone through some very difficult circumstances in his personal life and had just started attending Hope after being an atheist for 37 years. Fortunately, an Alpha promo was shown during one of his first weeks at church, so he took the course to learn more about faith.
 
As his faith began to grow, so did our friendship. During the prayer portion of the Alpha Retreat, Brian asked the prayer partners to pray for our relationship. We had both been married before and knew the only way a long-distance relationship would work was with God calling the shots. Eleven months later, in a beautiful chapel overlooking the Tennessee mountains, we were married.
 
We knew God brought us together for a reason. We also knew we could trust his timing. For the first year of marriage, we lived in two separate states.
 
Thankfully, God accelerated the timeline for us to live together. In August 2013, we built our house in Altoona and started attending Hope as a family. We call the property we built on “The Promised Land” because both of us spent 40 years “wandering through the wilderness of life” before coming together in marriage.
 
We began serving at Hope in 2013 in the Ignition and REVIVE ministries for high schoolers and young adults. Now you’ll find us serving each week as Alpha hosts. Hope definitely changed our story!
