This is a #GiantClam appreciation post. So we've got a giant clam #haiku to share with you:

Brightly colored bod
World's largest living bivalve
Humongous as heck

Giant clams weigh around 500 pounds (as much as an average male grizzly bear) and can grow to more than 4 feet long. 

But these very special animals are declining — and in some areas disappearing entirely.

We are urging NOAAFisheries to protect giant clam species under the Endangered Species Act.
