Talks have featured powerful speakers across industries, with diverse backgrounds and experiences, sharing their own personal story of overcoming challenges and finding their passion, their voice, and creating their own path.

This video features one of our favorite collaborators, News4Jax Anchor & Reporter naturalnewsmom Melanie Lawson. She shared her experience of overcoming self-doubt as a young journalist and stepping into her power as a voice for those who don't have a platform - and a powerful storyteller.

Her story also highlights the critical role of finding mentors, advocates, and friends who are willing to lift you up on your journey!

"I stopped trying to know more about what they knew, and started to capitalize on my own knowledge and perspective. I realized I'm probably not going to beat them at their own game, but I can play a different one and they'll never know what hit them because I can use Twitter and Facebook. They may not be able to. I found my personal Diane Sawyer realizing that she was Melanie Lawson and people should be copying me and that felt good."

"In my next job, my boss truly believed in me. She told me that I was a star, but ok, I can pretend like I'm one! So, it really left no choice than to pull on those gifts, capitalize on the strengths, understand and learn, improve my weaknesses, and also know I need this job, so I better figure out how to keep it this high - because I'm here and I gotta keep it here."
