I didn’t grow up going to a church that told me I couldn’t be who I was because God wouldn’t accept me in the kingdom of heaven… but a lot of people I know who listen to my music did have that experience. My husband leads religious trauma groups because he did grow up in a world like this and he knows how much it takes to find your way out of it. I’m releasing a special version of this song with nycgmc and a portion of the proceeds goes to bornperfect because conversion therapy is still legal in 37 states.
