## Caption

Award-winning actress and GW alum, Kerry Washington, who pursued performance studies with a double major in anthropology and sociology made an inspiring return to GW last week.

Washington stopped along as part of her book conversation series, “Thicker Than Water,” inspired by her memoir of the same name. In conversation with her former 'Scandal' co-star, Tony Goldwyn, Kerry shared her journey of self discovery after uncovering a deeply personal family secret and the power of shedding light in dark places.

Before the talk, Washington hosted an intimate conversation with current Corcoran theatre students to talk about her journey at GW, answer questions, and personally sign her memoir for those in attendance.

Pictured: Kerry Washington’s conversation with former 'Scandal' co-star, Tony Goldwyn; Washington with Corcoran Director, Lauren Onkey, current Corcoran Theatre students, and her former professor Leslie Jacobsen; and Washington backstage at Lisner Auditorium during her time as a GW undergrad.
