Having babies after the age of 35+ is possible; it just doesn't look the same as 25.

Here is why:

- The production of ubiquinol declines in your mid-20s. Ubiquinol is one of the most potent antioxidants found in the ovaries and supports mitochondrial health/egg quality.

- The older you are, the more inflammation, toxins, and damage your body has accumulated (literally nothing gets better with age).

- Most women start peri-menopausal symptoms around the age of 35 (approximately 15yrs before your mom went through menopause). That means you are closer to menopause than you are to puberty.

Before you freak out, here is what you can do about it:

- Don't just start trying and see what happens. It's not a strategy that I would recommend for anyone, but definitely not for anyone who is older. Why? Your chance of miscarriage is SOOOO much higher when you are older.

Pregnancy between the ages of 25-29 has a 12% chance of ending in a loss.
Pregnancy between the ages of 30-34 has a 15 % chance of ending in a loss. Pregnancy between the ages of 35-39 has a 25% chance of ending in a miscarriage, and pregnancy between 40-44 has a 51% chance of ending in a loss. (Hong Li & Marren, 2018)

- Do some testing; assess your inflammation levels, toxic load, gut function, and nutrient status. You will need to take supplements, clean up your environment, eat more protein, etc.

Your recommendations should be customized to YOU, not just some stuff you heard on the internet.

- Get your partner on board; if he is over 45, he needs to have his sperm tested, including his DNA fragmentation index. High DNA fragmentation is associated with pregnancy loss.

Your fertility journey isn't as mysterious as you think it is.

I know your doctor said you can just start trying and see what happens.

That's the same doctor that will tell you that you need IVF after 6 months.

There is A LOT you can be doing to improve your chances of bringing a healthy baby home.

Educate yourself, advocate for yourself, and don't leave any leaf unturned.
