I met my younger self for coffee…

I watched as she hesitated, unsure if she should ask me for a repeat. I smiled, remembering the years I spent pretending to understand. 

You don’t have to fake it, I told her. The right people will make sure you’re included.

She fidgeted with her hearing aids, embarrassed when they whistled. 

One day, I promised, you’ll wear your devices with pride. They don’t define you, rather they empower you. 

And sometimes you don’t even get scared to NOT wear them. 

Will I ever find someone who loves me for me? 

I beamed - yes. 

He loves every fiber of your being, just the way you are. And together all of your wildest dreams come true.

She whispered, I just want to be normal. I feel broken. 

My heart ached. 
You are, I told her. Light years beyond that—you are strong, capable and more than enough. 

I reached for her hand. One day, you’ll help others feel the same. 💕
