🌟 Alumnae Spotlight 🌟

Join me in highlighting Emily Gusse, a proud member of the Class of 2015! During her time at Harvard, Emily lived in Adams House and studied Psychology with a focus on Global Health. Outside of softball, she worked at the Harvard Student Agencies. 

Since graduating, Emily has taken her entrepreneurial spirit to new heights. In 2022, she left her corporate job in the pharmaceutical industry to pursue a bold dream with her wife and brother-in-law. Together, they founded New England’s first and only dog park and bar concept in April 2023. The business has grown rapidly, with a second location opening in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood and over 21,000 registered dogs. While Emily admits that running a small business is 10x harder than any corporate job she’s had, she also finds it 10x more rewarding to see her vision and hard work come to life.

Emily credits her time with Harvard Softball for teaching her invaluable lessons about resilience and teamwork. “It taught me that failure is a part of the journey, and if you have the right people in your corner, you will persevere. It also showed me that being a good teammate is key to every part of life—it’s impossible to do it all on your own.”

Her favorite memories from Harvard Softball are rooted in the little things, like returning to the dugout to the cheers of her teammates, belting out songs in a Celine circle (she even had one at her wedding!), and living just a short walk away from her closest friends. Of course, playing at regionals in Washington was a highlight too!

Emily’s advice for current Harvard Softball players? “Play free and unafraid. Remember you are one of the lucky ones who get to wear the Harvard softball jersey. Never take it for granted!”
