The REAL purpose of the NFL combine ⬇️

The NFL Combine is a cross between speed dating and a cattle auction. It is a three-day marathon of medical checks, interviews, and constant evaluation. The 40-yard dash and bench press get all the attention, but 80% of the process happens behind closed doors.

Before I even sat down with NFL coaches, they were throwing plays at me: “Alright, 36 Power. Draw it up—how’s it blocked?” We did not run Power at Hillsdale. I had to figure it out in the moment. That meant fullback on the Sam, backside guard pulls for the Mike… and if I hesitated, they knew.

I couldn’t control what they threw at me. I could control how many reps I had on the whiteboard in the months before. I could control my hydration and fuel to keep my brain sharp.

Then there were the medical checks. They pulled up X-rays from high school, did functional movement screenings, analyzed everything to assess my durability. Can this guy bend? Can he sink his hips? Does he have movement restrictions that could lead to injury?

The NFL Combine is more than just a test of physical talent. It is a mental and physical gauntlet, and the guys who prepare the right way will separate themselves.
