Meet our newest companion, Helen 💙

Who inspires you?
There are many people who have inspired me for lots of different reasons, but I recently read a quote that said ‘Be the reason why people believe in beautiful souls, kind hearts and good energy. Never stop being a good person.’ That has stuck with me.
 
What kind of music do you like?
I don’t have a favourite kind of music as such, I enjoy anything I can sing along to when no one is listening. 
 
Where is the best place that you have travelled to?
South Africa. It was never really a place that appealed to me, but when I got the chance to go with my husband for his work, it seemed silly to say no, and I’m so glad I went. 

What are you proud of?
After working in a job for 13 years that I was not enjoying, I finally had the courage to quit and do something fulfilling, this was when I started working for a charity who helped support children with additional needs and disabilities and their families.
 
Are you a tea or coffee person?
First drink in the morning has to be a cup of tea, followed quickly by a cup of coffee. Both are equally good with a nice chocolate digestive.
 
What’s the one thing that you are good at?
Helping people. I like to do anything I can to help, no matter how big or small.
 
When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger, I wanted to work with children. That finally happened when I was in my late 30’s.
 
Do you have any phobias?
I’m hugely terrified of spiders. Especially those big black ones that you find in the bathtub, they move so quick! I also have an irrational fear of tomatoes.
 
What’s your favourite season?
I’m happy whenever the sun is shining. Summer or winter as long as there is blue sky (and I have a thick coat in the cold).
 
What three items would you take to a desert island?
Just three things is a tough one. I think it would have to be my husband, my dog and a boat, and just hope there is already a mobile phone for me to call my mum, an endless supply of food, water and the odd cocktail!
