Sometimes, these events just mean a little extra. Actually, scratch that—it’s all the time. They just mean something special in a unique way every time. Telluride epitomized that.

I don’t circumlocute on this: the mission is to shift the culture of mental health in our communities. How does that happen? We showed Feel It All and then Paddy and I hopped on stage at the Sheridan Opera House. This theater, this stage, and this gathering place of community was built in 1913—112 years ago. In that time since, it’s been a mainstay and has acted as a cultural epicenter in one of the towns at the epicenter of mountain culture. Supposedly some legendary French actress named Sarah Bernhardt performed on this stage in the early 20th century. More recently, Aziz Ansari has cracked jokes on this same stage. Jimmy Buffett ripped Margaritaville in this same room. Now what’s on that same stage—literally and metaphorically? Mental health. That’s what cultural change looks like. Excuse my French, Sarah Bernhardt, but fuck yeah.

This event was particularly special because it was a homecoming for paddyroc. To see him be welcomed and celebrated by this community meant the world to me. And I’m grateful I got a front row seat to see what it meant to him to embrace a full circle moment on his path of recovery, growth, and living.

The day after the show, I got to ski the hill with great humans. While skiing, we met folks who were at the show the night before and they shared the significance it meant to them. All of this—the story, impact, and significance—belongs to them. It’s the story of a community. So here’s to writing what the next chapter is going to read.

Massive thanks to telluridemountainclub for making this event a reality. And of course, much love to everyone who supported the event, showed up, cried, and laughed.
