From Jackie to Sha’Carri, Jessie to Simone, Black culture exists at the forefront of all popular culture. The commodification of Black bodies and culture is heightened in popular sports culture. The history of sports has historically treated Black athletes and culture as a means of social and economical capital. “capital B” exists to honor the plethora of tremendous Black athletes in American history by presenting Black athletes unapologetic in their Blackness.
