Every March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day, but did you know that women lead over 50% of environmental movements and make up 80% of climate refugees? From defending forests to restoring coral reefs, women are at the forefront of conservation—yet their contributions often go unrecognized.

Women are not just impacted by climate change; they are shaping solutions. Whether advocating for policy change, leading grassroots action, or innovating sustainable practices, their efforts are critical to protecting our planet. But representation matters—without amplifying their voices, we miss half the story of environmental protection.

In honour of International Women’s Day, we’re showcasing ten powerful student artworks that celebrate the resilience, leadership, and impact of women in environmental protection. These pieces tell stories of activism, climate justice, and hope—reminding us that a sustainable future depends on gender equality in conservation.
