It’s official. 

CLIMATE POSITIVE 2024!

We are delighted and proud to announce that in 2024, for the second year running, Chiawa Safaris (and each of Chiawa Camp, Old Mondoro and Puku Ridge) has been verified and certified Climate Positive. 

This has been achieved not only through minimising the carbon footprint of our business’s activities on the ground but by collecting and remitting payments from our guests to BioCarbon Partners, that enables this organisation to protect the forests and crucial ecological buffer zones surrounding the Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa National Parks. 

Chiawa Safaris’s carbon footprint is recalculated annually (& even the domestic flights of our guests and the footprint of our conservation activities are included) by BCP who in turn invoices us for the settlement of Verified Carbon Credits - which are strictly audited annually by VERRA, the world’s leading voluntary greenhouse gas program.

We believe that Chiawa Safaris is the first certified Climate Positive safari company in Africa but if anyone knows different please let us know. 

A big shout out then to our guests and BCP who made this achievement possible. 

HOWEVER … perhaps more important than such achievements is that we also take care of Zambia’s wildlife, habitats, local people and economy through ethical practices in everything we do through our very own SEE 3 BOTTOM LINES policy where we endeavour that every action of this business benefits Zambia Socially, Environmentally and Economically.
