## Caption

Without trees and underbrush to hold the landscape together, following the 2017 Eagle Creek fire, Oneonta Gorge has become a place of loose rock and steep cliffs that, like most other trails in the Columbia River Gorge, is prone to slides during rainy winter months. That’s made hiking the narrow Oneonta Trail a bit more tricky these days; while considered a year-round hike, it should be avoided during or after big winter storms.

Triple Falls itself remains a stunning natural attraction. In December it flowed strongly with recent rains and snowmelt, the sound thundering off the walls of the gorge.
