March On! Celebrates the Women of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. 💖

Honoring the legacy of Septima Clark, a trailblazer in education and civil rights. Despite losing her teaching job in 1956 for refusing to resign from the NAACP, she empowered Black communities through literacy and citizenship workshops at Highlander Folk School and later as SCLC’s Director of Education. 

Her work laid the foundation for voter education and civil rights activism, influencing leaders like Rosa Parks. Clark’s impact was finally recognized when her teacher’s pension was reinstated in 1976, and she received the Living Legacy Award from President Carter in 1979.

A pioneer in grassroots citizenship education, Septima Clark was called the “Mother of the Movement” and the epitome of a “community teacher, intuitive fighter for human rights and leader of her unlettered and disillusioned people.” 🌟
