Growth Through Battle – Hamza Ahmed & James Whiting at SOMA Fight Series

Some bonds in combat sports are forged through time. Others, through war.

At SOMA Fight Series this past weekend, cultleaderhamza and his coach james.whiting stepped into battle on the same card—first James, giving away his spot on the main card so he could fight, and then he corner Hamza.

James led the way, setting the tone with a second-round finish, then stepped out of the ring and straight into Hamza’s corner. A few fights later, Hamza followed suit, delivering his own second-round stoppage—a moment of perfect symmetry.

It’s one thing to coach a fighter. It’s another to stand in the same fire, to feel the same nerves, the same adrenaline, the same weight of the night—and then still be there to guide the other through it. That's who are people are.

Two men. One night. Two second-round finishes.
