The JSerra Athletic Administration is proud to announce Juan “Crabby” Gutierrez (’11) as the first inductee into the JSerra Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025. 

A standout on the pitch, Gutierrez played a pivotal role in one of the school's most historic athletic achievements.

As a junior during the 2009-10 school year, Gutierrez scored 12 goals in Trinity League play, leading JSerra to its second consecutive league title. His dominance continued into the CIF-SS Division 1 postseason, where he netted goals in three consecutive playoff matches, culminating in the Lions’ 2-1 victory over Harvard-Westlake in the CIF-SS Division 1 championship. 

This historic triumph secured JSerra’s first-ever CIF-SS title in any sport.

Gutierrez’s stellar performance earned him the Orange County Register’s Boys Soccer Athlete of the Year and CIF-SS Division 1 Player of the Year honors.

JSerra Principal Eric Stroupe reflected on Gutierrez’s impact, noting that his extraordinary talent put JSerra soccer on the national stage.

“His ball control was simply spectacular, and if he had any space, it was a goal,” Stroupe said. “He was one of our first truly nationally recognized athletes, gracing the cover of ESPN Magazine and bringing the spotlight to JSerra soccer—a program that continues to flourish today.”

This marks Gutierrez’s second induction into the JSerra Athletics Hall of Fame; he was previously honored as a member of the 2010 Boys Soccer team in the inaugural Hall of Fame Class of 2021.

The JSerra Athletics Hall of Fame celebrates pioneers, legends, individuals, and teams who have played a foundational role in the school’s athletic legacy.

Gutierrez will be officially honored at the fifth annual JESPY Awards on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., at JSerra’s Football Field.
