A Fan Zone was created for supporters of all ages to come and cheer on their chosen players – as well as taking on each other in the arcade area – enjoying games like Mario Kart, Rocket League and Brawlhalla. The tournament was broadcast live on all of Burnley FC’s social channels throughout the day featuring shoutcasters, commentators and analysists giving their expert views on play – and shown on the big screens in the College’s Performance Theatre. It started at the luxurious Crow Wood resort where the players had breakfast before being driven to Turf Moor to be briefed on the day’s events. After lunch at the club the players then moved to the College’s Esports Suite to start the competition. The winners were finally crowned approaching midnight. They were Brad Colston on the Xbox, who is the reigning Burnley champion and Josh Blunden on the PS5. They’ll now head to the Grand Finals in March which will take place over the two days of action from Olympic Park, London which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Advanced Media Student at Burnley College Ibrahim Saddique was just one of eight competing for a place on the team. The 17-year-old former Shuttleworth College pupil put in an incredible performance on the Xbox but was unable to match the challenge of the highly experienced Brad.
