🏙️❄️ Save this if you’ll be shooting in the snow anytime soon 👀
“While we’re still getting snow here in Chicago, so here are a few tips to get the best shots. 
1. I love shooting at night - the streetlights really bring out the snow. 
2. You’ll need a faster shutter speed - I try to keep it over 1/100 depending on conditions, otherwise the snowflakes will be blurry and washed out. At night this will mean adding a good amount of ISO for proper exposure. 
3. I shoot with a Sony Alpha 1 and Alpha 7R IV, which handle low light well - I’ve gotten really nice shots even over 12,000 ISO. But you can get away with some noise because of the snow if you don’t have a camera that handles low light well. 
4. My lens of choice is the Sony 70-200 f2.8 G Master II for shooting street scenes - it isolates people really well (over 135mm at f2.8 especially, which also lets in more light than an f4+ aperture). 
5. The Sony 85mm f1.8 G Master is also perfect for street photography. It’s a super compact set up, and very fast wide open at f1.8, allowing you to isolate subjects perfectly and also ease back on ISO or increase shutter speed to keep images crisper and freeze the action and snowfall. 
6. You can also get great shots at much wider focal lengths (a couple of these I took with the Sony 12-24mm F2.8 G Master and Sony 24-70mm F2.8 G Master). 
7. The last tip is really trying to find the right subject and scene that tells the story of what it felt like to be outside. People fighting the wind, delivery drivers on bikes, trains kicking up lots of snow - anything that helps showcase the conditions.
