#OnThisDay, we honor Bayard Rustin, a key figure in the American civil rights movement and the architect of the historic 1963 March on Washington. 

Raised by his grandparents in Pennsylvania as one of 12 children, Rustin was a passionate advocate for social justice. His commitment to nonviolent protest and vision for equality were pivotal in shaping the movement. Despite facing discrimination because of his race and sexuality, Rustin stood firm in his beliefs and fought tirelessly for the rights of all.
