Happy Anniversary, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center! 🥳 We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings. Moved by the plight of tuberculosis patients who flocked to Arizona, the Sisters of Mercy initially opened St. Joseph’s Sanitarium in a six-room cottage that they’d rented in downtown Phoenix. A few months later, they gathered enough resources to begin construction on the Valley’s first hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital. The hospital’s groundbreaking took place March 19, 1895, on the Feast of St. Joseph. 🧡 #stjosephs130th
