Effective June 1, 2025, the national minimum wage will increase to $16,000 for a 40 hour work week, representing a a 6.7% increase, declared Prime Minister Andrew Holness as he concluded his budget presentation a few moments ago.

The PM says this is a 158% increase over the nine years the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has been in governance, a statement that led to the leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding, walking out.
