I am queer, Jewish and proud.

When I was choosing my middle name, I knew I wanted to have a Hebrew name, and I used my birth middle name’s initial, P, to guide the way.

Pe’er / פְּאֵר
Pe’er means luxury, magnificence, gloriousness, & splendor.
Pe’er is a gender neutral/gender expansive name.
The numerical analysis of Pe’er states that this name represents people who are peacemakers and sensitive. People who mediate complex and sensitive situations—diplomats, with high intuition. People who need love, warmth, and touch, and are friendly at their core.
When I chose Pe’er, something just felt right about the way it sounded. Then, when I read about my name’s meaning, I knew this was the one for me.

And then there is my first name, Lex. This name chose me—it was a name of mine my whole life, and beautifully gender expansive. But it wasn’t until recently that I learned about my name’s meaning—warrior: defender of humankind. Yet another meaning that speaks directly to my heart, soul, and being—fully connected to my life’s mission and passion to bring positive change to this world of ours.

Names carry so much with them—history, experiences, and emotions. I am proud to be able to carry my names with confidence for all to see, and to represent my Jewish heritage in how I am known.
