Good morning #BlueAngels fans! Did you know the Blue Angels F/A-18 Super Hornet is similar to your everyday vehicle? Our F/A 18 Super Hornets are equipped with a head-up display system, which we call HUD. These HUDs display critical flight information directly in front of the pilots windshield, allowing them to maintain visual reference outside the cockpit, while seeing key details like airspeed, altitude, and heading without needing to look down at instruments. Similar to the dashboard in your car that display’s speed, gas mileage, or your favorite songs.
The Avionics work center is comprised of Navy Aviation Electronics Technicians and Aviation Electricians, as well as Marine Corps F/A-18 aircraft electrical systems technicians and squadron aircraft communications/navigation radar systems technicians. They are responsible for the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and timely troubleshooting of F/A-18 and C-130 electronic flight controls, communication, navigation, radar, mission computers, display systems and fuel quantity.
