Today we had the opportunity to fly one of Pensacola’s hometown heroes, Sharon Darlene Hart, prior to the Pensacola Homecoming Air Show.

Darlene began her career in the transportation department of the Escambia County School District in 1993 as a bus assistant. In 2002, she transitioned to a substitute school bus operator and has since advanced through various roles to become the Director of Transportation. In her current position, Ms. Hart oversees the transportation of over 23,000 students daily throughout Escambia County to 53 schools and centers. Her responsibilities encompass not only the daily transportation to and from school but also a comprehensive range of curricular and extracurricular activities, including field trips and athletic events. Under Darlene’s leadership, the transportation department has evolved into a highly-efficient and well-coordinated operation. She has effectively addressed significant challenges, including employee shortages, health-related issues, and budget constraints, while also enhancing the overall morale within the department.

Darlene Hart is a pivotal leader whose influence extends throughout the entire geographic area of Escambia County. She is an administrator who not only exceeds expectations but also actively engages in daily operations which ensure the safe transportation of students. Her exemplary leadership is recognized district-wide, with students and families benefiting greatly from the timely and secure conveyance of our most valuable resource our students.

Our Key Influencer Program aims to showcase the hard work and dedication of people who give so much to their local communities. Every airshow nominates a key influencer and they are given a backseat ride before the airshow by Lt. Connor O’Donnell, Blue Angel #7.
