Today we had the opportunity to fly one of Cleveland’s hometown heroes, Sara Ziemnik, prior to the Cleveland National Air Show.

Sara Ziemnik is an accomplished history educator with degrees from Miami University and Cleveland State University, complemented by a full scholarship for her Master’s studies from the James Madison Memorial Foundation. She has taught for 24 years at Rocky River High School, receiving numerous accolades, including Rocky River Teacher of the Year and Gilder Lehrman National History Teacher of the Year. Passionate about amplifying diverse voices in history, she encourages her students to explore primary and secondary sources and engage in projects that support their community, such as organizing donations for local food banks and fundraising for the World Bicycle Relief. Sara has also documented students’ reflections on significant events like 9/11, hosted guest speakers from various backgrounds, and leads free online AP U.S. History courses as a Gilder Lehrman Master Teacher. An avid traveler, she has taken students abroad and is actively involved in volunteering efforts, including tutoring refugee children. In her personal life, she is a two-time Ironman triathlete, a Boston Qualifying marathoner, and a dedicated mother.

Our Key Influencer Program aims to showcase the hardwork and dedication of people who give so much to their local communities. Every airshow nominates a key influencer and they are given a backseat ride before the airshow by Lt. Connor O’Donnell, Blue Angel #7.
