Proud Dad moment!!! Our youngest son Sam (12) had an amazing hunt with me in West Texas where he went 5\5 on the week and was fortunate to harvest his 1st buck on the final day of whitetail season. What an ALL-TIME hunt together that I’ll never forget!

I introduced him to hunting last year in my attempt to raise him like I was raised. He went 3\3 on a hunt last year with a javelina and 2 big South Texas does. He already loved the outdoors, but this solidified an immediate interest in hunting. 

Fast forward to this year. Mrs. Meat Church and I gave Sam a 6.5 Creedmore for Christmas this year, and well, to say he is hooked on hunting and the outdoors is an understatement. Going 5\5 on this hunt in West Texas to make him 8\8 in 2 seasons. The kid has ice in his veins. He is cold blooded. He never seems to get nervous. On this hunt he harvested 2 turkey, 2 pigs and this awesome first buck. Pretty amazing first buck! All of the shots were at least 100 yards and he harvested the buck at 165. Now, just like last year, he is learning to process and utilize 100% of the meat by my side. We put several different montanaknifecompany sharp blades to work in the field. 

To say I am proud of the outdoorsman he is becoming is an understatement. The memories we made together last week are better than anything we could have possibly done together. I owe a huge thank you to my college buddy caseydonahew for getting us on this ranch. 

Thank you to Reid & Ben at raysgunsdallas for taking such great care of us. I have been a loyal customer at Ray’s for a long time, and this package they put together for Christmas (tikka_international x leupoldoptics) was perfect (obviously). 10\10 recommend the store and staff!

Sam has the gift of gab like his old man. Should he be the face in the upcoming wild game cooking videos? I think so.....
