For ten weeks from February to May, I was completely hooked on SHOGUN, the most talked-about drama series of 2024.
The beauty of the show’s art and costumes was astounding; every week I would exclaim in admiration as I watched. As the second half of the show progressed, into Episodes 8 and 9, the tension built up so much that I was barely able to breathe. I felt as though I was transported back in time to the Warring States Period of Japan on a level I had never experienced before.

Perchance, I was given the opportunity to meet Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, the producers and creators of SHOGUN, along with others from their team.
I feel that watching SHOGUN has taught me that the meaning of life can change if I strive to live with the spirit of a samurai in the Warring States period instead of vaguely despairing about the later phases of my life. I am now living my days a little more positively.
I am glad that I was able to share these reactions with Justin and Rachel in person.
My hope is to one day also meet Hiroyuki Sanada and convey my excitement for SHOGUN to him as well.

Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Nukata of Studio Ghibli for creating the opportunity for me to meet them.
