🥟 Here's DUMPLING for you to talk about! -- dintaifungusa's newest and grandest opening, here in NYC. Recall that I went live on the 18th to broadcast their imminent opening and while they had their soft opening a week earlier, it was the give the team a dry run at the real thing. I'm glad to report that after more than two decades since first having my first Din Tai Fung experience in Arcadia, the wait is definitely over and they are finally here in my city.

The skin on the xiao long bao are as thin as I'd remembered, and pleated as always 18 times (for good luck). Taste is also on point, and while we are reminded constantly that there are many choices here in the city, there is only one Din Tai Fung. You can take that to the bank. 💸

Several things that are different here include the fact that it's subterranean, massive, and the build is immaculate; they have private rooms, but then again, the floorplan is quite vast already; and they actually have a bar, for that cocktail fix, if that's what you want with XLB. While we did not get to sample much in the way of the menu (we had lunch here) the crab-pork soup dumplings are a must, and more notably the Truffle & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao (it comes in fives) is an extravagance you should try at least once.
